Have you ever thought about the story behind your favourite band? How did they create their sound, how did they become a world-wide sensation, how did it all start?
In 1994, three young teenage boys from Newcastle, Dan, Ben and Chris aged 14, entered a competition to record a song at the studios of the station Triple J. Little did they know, when Dan’s Mum filled out the entry form and sent it in, along with a cassette tape and a photo of them on a stoop of a house, that they would become world-wide sensations.
Today I am joined by Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou. They’ve just written and released their book, Love & Pain, which takes you on the journey of silverchair. Silverchair where more than just a band, they were a brotherhood. As they join me for a conversation, I learn about what really made them something special.
